Magic 8 ball: Sox rack up history On 2004-10-28 20:06
By Ian Browne / MLB.com
ST. LOUIS -- In the baseball-crazed region of New England, they will no longer cuss about mythical curses. Red Sox players will no longer be force-fed history lessons on the generations of championship futility that preceded them. The heartbreak is officially over, thanks to a historic odyssey that arguably now earns top-shelf status as the biggest story in the history of Boston sports. The entire culture of the Boston Red Sox changed Wednesday night at Busch Stadium, as the tradition-laden franchise carted home its sixth World Series championship, but first since 1918. That's right, the 86-year drought officially came crashing down after the Sox completed their four-game sweep of the Cardinals with a 3-0 victory in Game 4. This was quite a turn of events for a team that trailed the Yankees, 3-0, in the ALCS and was down a run against Mariano Rivera entering the ninth inning of Game 4. They came back to win that game in 12 innings, and never lost again, closing out the postseason with eight wins in a row, and an 11-3 record overall. Since the LCS adopted a best-of-seven format in 1985, no eventual world champion had been able to win eight consecutive games in one postseason. But the Sox completed that most gaudy mission at 11:40 p.m. ET on Wednesday, as closer Keith Foulke flew off the mound and tossed the World Series-ending out to first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz.
I guess Charles is Happy. That story is like a movie scenario... I love it :)

I was trying to find some nice things to download from the internet and I thought I would type "blumchen" in the search box. Most of you probably have no idea who blumchen is except if you're german maybe. When I was younger, I used to love techno, dance music, and also happy hardcore. This is kinda the same music as "99 red baloons" (maybe you know this song). Well Blumchen was a 17 years old german girl singing on happy hardcore music. She is very famous amongst kids in germany cause she was singing the song of "Sesame Street" in Germany. Me and my friend Guillaume were huge fans of Jasmin Wagner aka Blumchen. Now I can tell how stupid the lyrics of those songs were but I listened one of her songs today and it reminded me a lot of things about my old friends that I haven't seen for years. This is not the first time a song reminds me the past. I think music is a very good help to remember the past. Anyway I thought I'd let a note about her as she was my favorite singer for a few years and then became a part of my life.

What a good captain... On 2004-10-14 19:15
You have to know first that I really like the way David Beckham plays football. I'm not a stupid fan who cares about his personnal life etc, but I like to watch him playing. Last week, he did something pretty fun. He got injured during a game and he knew that he would be away from the fields for a long while so he decided to do a very strong tackle on a Wales player to get a yellow car, get suspended and then put the counters of yellow cards back to 0 while he was injured anyway. People can say it was a very good idea, personnally I think it's a bit immoral but this is not the point, everyone can make his own opinion about the story. What was funny is that he admitted that he did that on purpose to the Daily Telegraph's journalist and that was published the next day in the newspaper. So now the best part. He actually said to the journalist "Some people think I have no brain, this time I showed them I do" or something like that, meaning he was very smart for having done that. So now, I'm sorry David, but even if I go on your side, and say it was a smart move, telling it to the world, to those kids who you are an idol for wasn't very intelligent. I think those people really believe you are stupid now and maybe some new other ones as well...

Cote d'azur On 2004-10-13 11:39
Last Friday, Scott, Vishwa, Eiko, Sandrine and I took the train to Toulon. After a short stop there, we went to Bandol and stayed in a very nice hotel right on the beach. Scott and I went swimming while the others played paparazzi, taking dozens of pictures or videos of us. On the evening we had a rock fish soup which is supposed to be "very fishy" for some weird reasons known by us only...
On Saturday morning we took the train to Marseille and met Neela, Charles and Anya there. We headed to our hotel which was very well located (50 meters from the "Vieu Port"). After getting installed, we went to a cruise to the Chateau d'If where Monté Christo story took place. It is also the place where leonardo di caprio ... huh ... I mean the man in the iron mask was held for a while. It was a nice visit. After If we went to Frioul Islands but didn't have much time there to visit so we just went to a calanque. Scott, Charles and Anya swam. We went back to the hotel (almost missed the boat) and slept for a while before going out for a crazy night. We first had bouillabaisse in a very nice restaurant where the waiter was mafia related (prolly). Then we went to an irish pub showing the France-Ireland game (0-0, France sucks) and then to a disco called "Trolleybus" which was full of little 15 years old kids from Marseille.
On Sunday we slept a long while and then went to the Basylic up the hill. Was very nice and the view was very good on America's cup pre-regate and on all Marseille. After a short stop, we walked down and visited some old parts of Marseille where we bought some crap to fill Charles' bag in. It was already time for Charles, Neela, and Anya to go back to Lyon so they left us and after a short nap; we managed to find a very nice North African restaurant where we had a wonderful couscous. We walked back home then and slept.
On Monday Sandrine left early in the morning, Vishwa, Eiko, Scott and I went to the Prado beaches and the Borely Park. We then walked to the corbusier building (weird place), and then walked pass the Velodrome stadium (grrrrr). We took the metro, get some food, came back to the hotel, and took our train back to Lyon.
That was a very nice week end with a wonderful weather. We had lots of fun and I hope we'll do that again to another destination. The Brave Warriors On 2004-10-05 18:50
Ok yesterday, Scott, Martijn, Nela, Charles and I went pubquizzing at the Albion. I was virgin, never did pub quizz before. Well don't trust people when they say the first time is never good. What ? That is not about pub quizzes ??. Anyway thanks to captain Scott's infinite knowledge, a bit of luck with card games, and the 600 scottish islands, we managed to win !!. Unbelievable !!. Scott went behind the bar for 1 minute and managed to get 17 pints of beer that we managed to drink before walking the long way back home. Very nice time, I hope we'll do it again. Derby On 2004-10-05 18:49
I think I would mention that Lyon beated St Etienne on Sunday, the best derby I ever saw. Both teams played pretty well but I'm so glad we won !!. We also went to Perouges before the game. The weather was nice so we had a nice day which ended very well and very drunk. |
