Chamonix and London On 2005-07-28 08:51
Last weekend, Neela and I went to Les Houches, a small town a few miles from Chamonix. We stayed with Bernard who is my godfather and grand-uncle and had so much fun !. We arrived on Friday afternoon and went to Chamonix and another litttle town around to have a look. The next morning we went to the mountains by teleferic and walked up for 2 hours and then down for about the same time after a nice lunch near the Lac Blanc. We had fondue in the evening. On Sunday we went to an animal park, which was great, and had raclette in the evening before coming back to Lyon. Tonight we're going to London to spend some time with Scott and for me to visit the city as I've never been there before. I think we're going to have a blast ! (yeah I know this is a not so funny word game). I'll send you a postcard. Loire Valley On 2005-07-21 08:52
Neela and I just came back from a super nice long week end trip to Paris and Loire Valley. It was a blast. We got there on Thursday around 1pm and met with Lisa, the girlfriend of one of Neela's friends (we stayed at her place). After walking the whole afternoon in Paris, from Eiffel Tower to Champ de Mars, Invalides and Canal St Martin, we went back home and saw part of the fireworks for Bastille day (was too crowded to see it well though). The next morning we took a train to Blois where we stayed until Sunday evening. On Thursday we rented bikes and biked to Chambord which is 20-25 kms from Blois, saw the castle, rested a bit in the gardens and went back to Blois. I can tell you my ass hurt at that time. Our hotel was above a PMU (where else....) and very to the trainstation so we could hear train pass all night long (nice :p). The next day we went all day to Cheverny which is more like a big mansion but very well furnished, so we got in this one. It is the castle Hergé used to draw Moulinsart castle in Tintin adventures. Same distance as the day before approximately. On Sunday the girls went biking in the morning and I stayed at a café drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. It was nice to rest a bit. In the afternoon we walked around Blois and went back to Paris by train in the evening. On Monday Neela and I walked all around Paris. From Passy where we were staying to Arc de Triomphe, then down the Champs Elysees Avenue, then to the Invalides, to Place de la Concorde, to Notre Dame, Hotel de Ville, The outside of Louvre,... and went back home. In the evening we did the same thing on a Bateau-Mouche and that was amazing :). The next day we met Lisa at the hospital she works at and went for lunch with her. We then took a metro to Montmartre to see Sacré Coeur and walked down to Pigalle where we saw Moulin Rouge. We then said bye to Lisa, and walked back to the trainstation to come back to Lyon. So the whole thing was amazing. I enjoyed Loire Valley a lot more than Paris as biking in the countryside is super cool and make your body feel so much better (even with the pain lol). I hope the next trips will be as good as this one. Tomorrow we are going to St Gervais / Chamonix to meet my grand uncle and spend the week end there with him. Paris 2012 (Again) On 2005-07-12 11:48
After the mayor of Paris clearly said that London cheated, I was feeling pretty angry, but thank God, I'm not the only one. You can translate by yourself I'm sure....
Patrice Chabanet Lost in Translation... On 2005-07-07 18:45
Today I could say what I think about the multiple terrorists attacks in London in the morning and what I think about the people who did this but I guess we probably all think the same way so there is no need to say it once more. Instead let's talk about Lost In Translation the movie from Sophia Coppola that I (finally) watched yesterday. I really enjoyed it. I love Bill Murray so that might have helped. Both Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson were really the actors for that movie. That might sound stupid but did anyone catched the very end ? What did he say to her ear ? Is it the mistery that ends the movie well ? I'm pretty lost (hum...). Help ? London 2012 On 2005-07-07 11:19
It is funny to hear the french people talking about the decision of the Olympic Commitee to give the 2012 Olympic Games to London. They don't say "The games will take place in London", they say "The games will not take place in Paris". Some people say France has been robbed, some say the US participants voted for London for political reasons, some say british people tried to attack the french project before the vote even though it was strictly forbidden, etc... Even the 'great' judoka David Douillet, one of the most famous and appreciated person in France said something like "everything is illogic with that choice but we have to be fair play and accept the fact that we lost". How the hell is that fair play ?. I wonder if anyone in France imagined one second that MAYBE the project of London could be better than ours..... I am not saying it is, I don't know, just thinking they could have considered this as an option.... People will never change here. Travellin..... On 2005-07-04 17:15
I can't believe I've been to so many places in about a year. I went to Cannes, Perouges, Marseille, Bandol, Avignon, Tarascon, Arles, Nimes, Geneva, Selestat, Colmar, Haut-Koenigsbourg, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr, Obernai, Montpellier, Sete, and in the following weeks, we're going to Paris, Loire Valley, London, Chamonix, Montelimar, Hamburg, and maybe Annecy or Aix les bains..... Then we're going to Japan in November. Damn that is a lot, at least that is something interresting that came from stay in IARC. :) . Can't wait to see the future destinations :p |
