A pigeon's wedding On 2006-04-29 13:13
It took about a week to recover from the great week end we had in Holland. As the pigeon was getting married to have a 3 days trip to visit the surrounding area. I left Lyon on Friday morning very early and met Scott and Jon in the morning in Amsterdam. Having having a quick breakfast, we had a looooong bar hopping day which still took us to the rijkmuseum (a bit disapointing to me) and the Heineken brewery ! (not disapointing at all). We then met with Charles and later with Lynn and Cat who convinced us to go to a live sex show... hum... oh well... In the mean time, they all tried to lose me in Amsterdam but thanks to the incredibely good english speaking skills of dutch people, I managed to find them in a bar later. After a last drink, we came back to our respective hotels and slept until the next day when we had to leave to Leiden where the wedding was taking place. It was tough to get up that day but we made it. Some tulips fields from the train window later we arrived in Leiden, walked to the hotel and then left to the wedding. It was very cute. Short reception after the wedding and then a chinese noodle's restaurant where Charles almost got hired. The party then started with Martijn first song (yeah some people don't like to dance...) and ended up pretty late in a very smoky bar where Martijn and Saskia met for the first time. Returning to the hotel was pretty amusing with Scott using Lynn's shoes as gloves but we made it and the next day, after a tough awakening, we went to the station with the girls to say bye and met martijn and co in front of their house where we all got on a boat for a canal promenade. Unfortunately the rain joined us but it was still nice especially with the beer to cheer you up. We then had to say bye to our friends and headed back to amsterdam airport to fly back to lyon. It was an incredibly good weekend like I never had one for a while. Too bad some people were missing (huh Gula?), but we still had a lot of fun. Weddings are surrounded by some kind of "love aura" that just spreads to everyone around... Nepal On 2006-04-19 08:54
Une semaine - by Gula On 2006-04-01 20:42
Cette semaine c'est presque fini. This was a lovely week as the weather was pas mal (warm and sunny intermittently). Our goal was not to do much this week but we somehow still ended up doing a lot. On Saturday we enjoyed and evening crepe party with Aurelie, Jerome, and Olga. Although we missed Hervé, it was fun as we could all sit around the table and enjoy together. We also had drinks with Ghislaine and Charles one day with the Fourviere in the backdrop. We also went to a bar before Seb's football match and heard lots of perverted jokes about women told by old men. As that was a delight, I joined a friend later that evening for a walk around the presqu'ile and feeding the swans on the banks of the Saone. After coffee with old friends at IARC yesterday, dinner at "Le Petit Frére", and a degustation of patisseries this evening, I have realized what a wonderful week this has been. |
